Holloways of Ludlow wins 'Ultimate Kitchen Design of the Year' award

* Holloways-award.jpgHolloways of Ludlow tells us it is delighted that its designer, Martin Smith has won the award for the 'Ultimate Kitchen Design of the Year' at the prestigious 2015 Designer Kitchen & Bathroom Awards.

Martin's winning luxury kitchen design forms part of a wider interior architectural renovation project designed and implemented by Holloways of Ludlow. The panel of industry judges was impressed by the originality of the design, the innovative use of materials, and the assimilation of the design into the contemporary open-plan living space.

The design employs architecturally-led block applications of key materials... LCDA concrete for the cast concrete worktops and large format floor tiles. Matt oiled stave oak and exposed ply edges for the cabinetry, which extends past the architectural staircase and bookshelves (also designed by Holloways of Ludlow) into a contemporary bar space. The tall cabinets conceal high end appliances, structural pillars and the entrance to a utility room, while also facilitating the flow of light and traffic.

At the centre of the kitchen space, double pocket doors open to reveal a built-in microwave and further counter space for a toaster, coffee machine and food processor. The built-in ovens, the integrated fridge and freezer and the wine climate cabinet, are all from Gaggenau's 400 series. This is not just a sleek and stylish show kitchen, but a fully functional and practical hub for a family home.

The kitchen flows seamlessly into an adjoining bar. A striking Corian back panel supports glass shelves for displaying glassware and bottles. A small integrated dishwasher and a drinks fridge provide added convenience for the homeowner.

The kitchen and bar complements the wider interiors scheme, including the staircase and bookshelf, also clad in stacked ply and oak. This is testament to Holloways of Ludlow's coordinated design approach.

Martin Smith, designer at Holloways of Ludlow said at the event: "I am delighted to accept this prestigious award for my luxury kitchen design. We always seek to create and manufacture the very best in design for each individual client, and it's wonderful to achieve recognition on behalf of Holloways of Ludlow from such a respected industry award."

The Designer Kitchen & Bathroom Awards 2015 recognises and rewards the industries finest kitchen and bathroom designers over the past year, and is judged by some of the UK's most experienced and recognised industry figures experts from across the fields of UK kitchen & bathroom design, architecture and interior design.
