Burbidge boss bikes for charity
Ben Burbidge, managing director at Burbidge and master of The Furniture Makers' Company is preparing to embark on a gruelling 470 mile bike ride in September, all in aid of charity.
Ben, along with 25 other keen cyclists, has signed up to ride from London to Bordeaux on September 11th, with pit-stops along the way for some much deserved French food and wine. The peloton is hoping to reach Bordeaux on 16th September, just five days after starting.
All riders have set themselves personal targets, to raise a minimum of £1000 each for The Furniture Makers' Company, which is the British furnishing industry's charity that supports the education of students across the country. The charity helps to nurture skills and expertise within the industry to support those in need and help to create excellence.
Ben comments: "This is certainly a very challenging bike ride which will see us averaging around 78 miles a day. We hope to be waved off from the City of London by Christine Rigden, one of the Sheriffs of London, and pedal into Bordeaux to a civic reception in the wine-growing capital of France, having completed clocked up the 470 mile total.
"It's for a great cause and one which is very close to all of our hearts - we would like to thank everyone who has sponsored us so far as we hope to smash our targets."
The ride has been organised in conjunction with Saddle Skedaddle, a specialist cycling company.
