Season's greetings from Croydex turn into hard cash for hospice

The Christmas spirit may have been alive and well at Croydex, yet not a single Christmas card was sent during the recent festive season. Instead, the bathroom accessories company, based in Hampshire, chose to donate the money it would have normally spent on cards, to charity.

With the company opting to send out its corporate season's greetings by email rather than going to the expense of posting cards, a total of £500 was raised, which Croydex was delighted to donate to Naomi House, a local children's hospice.

Naomi House children's hospice is a charity that provides support to children and young people with conditions that mean they are unlikely to live to become adults. The charity provides care to families living in communities across the seven counties of Berkshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Surrey, West Sussex and Wiltshire. The charity receives around 10% of its funding from the Department of Health, while the remaining £4.5million is raised by people and businesses across the region.

"As a company, we were only too happy to support the efforts of our staff to raise money for such a worthwhile cause by donating the money we usually spend on sending paper Christmas cards ourselves," explains Croydex Managing Director Nick McGrellis.

"While our customers still received our best wishes of the season by email, we felt that that they would appreciate that the money usually spent on posting these out could be better spent by the hospice."

On receiving the £500 cheque on behalf of Naomi House, Helen Jude, Corporate Fundraiser said: "We are very grateful for Croydex's donation of £500 which could help provide five arts and crafts sessions for children and young people visiting Naomi House. We rely on the support of local companies like Croydex to keep the doors of Naomi House open to local families who rely on our care."
