'The Rock' by Colin Wong: demonstrating permanence and impermanence

* The-Rock-1.jpgA groundbreaking new concept from award winning kitchen designer Colin Wong, which explores the potential of permanence and impermanence in kitchen furniture and materials, involved Corian, Neolith, Formica and Cosentino fabricating, delivering and installing each in a series of 'Rocks'.

These attracted a lot of interest, as they were so different from what one would normally expect to see at the Show.

"The concept is the creation of bespoke kitchen sculptures designed to connect with the surrounding architecture," explained the Edinburgh designer. "Sculpt your personalised 'rock' then cloak it with your selected material, and finally 'slot in' your cabinetry.

"Quality cabinets can be simply interchanged through the generations whilst the rock remains as your bespoke commissioned sculpture. Like a painting, creating your personalised and captivating visual sculpture will add an air of true individuality to your kitchen."
