Bespoke storage solution - semi-circular island base unit has integrated recycle bin and knife rack
Figura - renowned designer of kitchens and other fitted/unfitted furniture for the home, has created a clever storage solution in this English oak and hand painted kitchen.
Giles Slater, Managing Director, has designed a clever semi-circular island end base unit with large full round end grain maple chopping block. The cupboard features a clever housing for a vegetable peelings bin that can be removed and taken to the compost in the garden and a beautifully curved knife rack. They are attached to the inside of each door respectively. There is further space below for additional chopping boards. Ideally it should be positioned between the range/hob and sink area and when closed becomes a very attractive feature unit that is uniquely functional.
Giles says: "My client is delighted with her 'cooks' preparation area and says it only serves to enhance her passion for cooking."
Figura is unusual in as much as it is primarily a design company. It keeps control of quality and only employs cabinetmakers that adhere to this high level specification. This enables it to choose the cabinetmaker best suited to an individual project, giving it ultimate flexibility that produces individually designed joinery made furniture.
"It's what sets us apart from other joinery made kitchen companies," says Giles. "Our design philosophy is that each client; each home and each project is unique and that function is followed by quality and then style.
"The company offers a full design and fitting service as well as advice on lighting, flooring, building work etc. Each project is taken in isolation. This ensures a functional, truly individual and beautiful kitchen that is built to last."
As well as its elegant, timeless and luxurious kitchens, the company also designs and makes furniture for other areas of the house, particularly dressing rooms, studies, libraries and media rooms. Its showroom in Chiddingfold, Surrey, is testament to this flexibility and features stunning wood and hand painted kitchen furniture.
