FIRA to supply furniture test equipment to the Philippines
The Furniture Industry Research Association has secured a contract to supply the Forest Products Research & Development Institute (FPRDI), a research and development agency under the Department of Science and Technology in the Philippines, with furniture test equipment.
This batch of equipment, worth more than £70,000, is the third consignment in three years that FIRA has supplied to the Philippines, as FPRDI increases capability and capacity in its furniture testing laboratories.
Furniture testing equipment from FIRA is trusted worldwide. In the last 10 years, FIRA has supplied equipment to manufacturers and test laboratories in the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Egypt, Vietnam and the Philippines, as well as regularly updating FIRA's own test equipment in their Stevenage-based laboratory.
Phil Reynolds Technical Manager for FIRA says: "FIRA's bespoke furniture test equipment is the distillation of over 60 years of knowledge of furniture standards and testing and we are very proud of the high standards of our testing equipment and its use worldwide."
The new structural test equipment to be supplied to the FPRDI Furniture Testing Centre is for testing chairs, tables and beds to British, European and International standards.
Victor Revilleza FFTC Technical Manager says: "We are looking forward to the furniture testing equipment from FIRA arriving. The equipment will help us to continue to expand the range of testing we carry out at the centre."
The Furniture and Handicraft Industries in the Philippines are acknowledged as being among the major contributors of the Philippine economy, providing employment to thousands of Filipinos both in the rural and urban centres.
FIRA has a proven record in designing and manufacturing furniture test equipment that reflects the demands of the latest furniture test standards and has experience in establishing furniture test laboratories across the globe, including FIRA-CMA Testing Services in Hong Kong and the Furniture Technology Centre in Egypt.
FIRA testing centers offers product testing to ensure that furniture products are safe, legal and fit-for-purpose. FIRA can offer materials, upholstery, flammability and structural testing.
Having products FIRA tested before bringing them to the market can save all sectors of the furniture industry - manufacturers, importers retailers and specifiers alike - both the time and the large sums of money involved in rectifying, withdrawing or replacing products.
