A new format for the The Kitchen Bathroom Bedroom Specialists Association's AGM was warmly welcomed by members and judged a great success by those who attended the event on 4th October.

A total of 24 retail members and 28 representatives from corporate members were amongst the 59 people that attended the event, which was held at the Barcel- Billesley Manor Hotel in Warwickshire.

"We offered a new format to invigorate and refresh what can be a staid meeting due to the legal nature of an AGM," says KBSA CEO Graham Ball.

"Our guest speakers offered interesting insights into two extremely important issues facing all retailers, customer service and the management of brand reputation through social media."

At the event, Antony Taylor from the John Lewis Partnership talked about the customer experience and how John Lewis's commitment to service and quality has helped the company maintain its position as the UK's favourite retailer.

Chris Hambly from Social Media in Business outlined how social media is changing the way retailers communicate with their customers during the buying cycle and how a focused digital media plan could influence the customer experience.

"Both speakers touched on the importance of trust and how more people buy from a recognised or recommended brand, especially in these straightened times," comments Graham.

"Consumer confidence, peace of mind and excellence in service are all key elements of the KBSA experience so it was refreshing to find these themes emerging as important criteria for successful retailers.

"We are grateful to our sponsors, Bartlett, NEFF, Bosch, JJO, GDHA, and Hotpoint as their support contributed to the overall success of the evening."

A networking dinner followed the AGM meeting with most members choosing to stay and enjoy a meal and after dinner entertainment from English comedian of the year 2009, Matthew Osborn.
