Multi award winning Asymmetric Duo bath wins two further prestigious design awards

A European market leader in baths, shower trays and enamelled floor level shower trays, the company has now received two further design awards for its Asymmetric Duo bath in Kaldewei steel enamel 3.5mm - the universal design award 2012, and for the lava black matt model, the red dot design award 2012 for outstanding product design.

Asymmetric Duo combines aesthetically styled elements with comfortable functionality and already impressed the jury of experts for the iF product design award and the Interior Innovation Award.

Its timeless elegance and straightforward design transform the Asymmetric Duo bath into a stylish centrepiece in a modern bathroom. The ingenious synthesis of comfort, functionality and aesthetics makes for a high degree of innovation: Asymmetric Duo features a generously proportioned rim on one side which can be used as a seat or for holding bath utensils, and also for the individual positioning of taps; an optical highlight that provides the user with various usage options depending on the bath's orientation to satisfy the individual requirements of functionality and comfort.

Receiving the prestigious red dot design award along with the universal design award, which is focused primarily on product function, shows that this model in Kaldewei's bath range blends aesthetic design and functionality in perfect harmony.

The red dot design award is one of the world's largest and most distinguished design competitions - more than 14,000 participations from over 70 nations document the international relevance of the coveted red dot. Within the product design category, a total of 4,515 registrations were submitted in 2012. But only the best were awarded. Kaldewei's Asymmetric Duo bath in lava black matt impressed the international jury of eminent experts, who considered such aspects as innovation, functionality and ecological compatibility in their decision, to bestow a red dot award in the product design 2012 category.

Since 2008, the universal design award has been presented once a year by an expert jury of distinguished designers and architects who implement the topic of universal design themselves as a special focus in their work. The evaluation criteria for the entries are broad and flexible usability, easy and intuitive operation, safety and error tolerance, intercultural character and economy. Once again, Kaldewei's Asymmetric Duo distinguished itself here to earn a spot among the winners.
