Lakes Bathrooms supports family featured in BBC One series

Lakes Bathrooms has supplied a shower enclosure to support a family featured in the BBC One series 'DIY SOS: The Big Build', due to air later this year. The enclosure was used as part of a life changing transformation to the home of a family in Spalding, Lincolnshire and is featured in the fifth episode of the 24th series of the flagship DIY television show.

'DIY SOS: The Big Build' is presented by Nick Knowles and attracts around six million viewers with its prime time slot on BBC One. In the hour long programme, the team takes on ambitious builds to help truly deserving families, calling on friends, family and local trades to help with projects right across Britain. In this episode midwife and single mum Paula gets help to transform her home to enhance her life and that of her three children; Jake (18), Lachan (17) and severely disabled Dakota (8), who suffers with Quadriplegic Dystonic Cerebral Palsy.

It is hoped that the development, which is designed to create an open plan environment to increase Dakota's mobility and potential for activity, will have a positive effect on the eight-year-old's life expectancy - potentially adding 21 years to her life. The improvements are also designed to ensure that the whole family are comfortably accommodated together, with a home that is equipped to suit all their various needs.

Lakes Bathrooms was delighted to support this cause and supply a shower enclosure suitable for the new bathroom layout - making sure that it maximised on available space and afforded easy access. Commenting on the support for Paula and her children, sales and marketing director, Clive Organ, said, "We are truly delighted to be able to help this admirable family. We know that Paula suffers with severe back pain and so we hope that the corner entry enclosure supplied will make showering easy and pleasurable for her. It's one small part of a much bigger build and we are exceptionally proud to be part of the team that have made it possible."
