Property maintenance chief urges us to plan ahead for non-emergency refurbishments
While tracking the number of shopping days until Christmas, people also should track the number of remodelling days until the relatives arrive, says the managing director of one of the UK's largest property management firms.
"We will fit more bathrooms and paint and decorate more spare rooms between now and Christmas than any other time in the year, with more than 100 people working day and night to meet the deadline," warns Will Davies, managing director of London-based aspect.co.uk.
Will says these refurbishments appear to be in preparation for extended family and other holiday guests, which is why people should plan further ahead.
"You know family and other guests are coming for Christmas. So why not get those refurbishments and additions done now?"
"Remember, we won't just be doing up bathrooms and spare rooms at this time of year. We're also fixing storm damage and we don't want a repeat of last Winter."
Will understands that Christmas often is the last thing on people's minds during the late Summer/early Autumn period, but that's exactly why people should schedule those holiday preparations at that time - it's the off season.
"We can handle any problem you have but we can handle it better if it's not an emergency!" he says.
aspect.co.uk is a London property maintenance company that provides plumbers, drainage specialists, electricians, gas and central heating engineers, air conditioning specialists, roofers and handymen plus refurbishment and waste clearance to both domestic and commercial accounts, 24 hours a day.
