David Osborne appointed as new BMA President

* BMA-AGM-June2014.jpgThe Bathroom Manufacturers Association's Annual General Meeting took place this week at the Army and Navy Club in London. The Managing Director of Roman, David Osborne, was appointed as the new President, replacing previous President Steve Lee, of Methven.

The BMA appoints a new president for a two year term, who is tasked with promoting the BMA as the main voice of the bathroom industry.

David Osborne has been very much involved with the BMA for many years and his father, Gerry Osborne, also held the BMA presidency back in 2001.

Gerry was the very first president of the BMA in its current form; he was the founder of Roman in 1985 and took on the role as Roman's company chairman in 2006. Gerry has recently been installed into the role of High Sheriff of Durham, undertaking a year of supporting the Crown and the judiciary, whilst also supporting and encouraging crime prevention, the emergency services and the voluntary sector.

David has been the Chairman of the BMA's Centre of Excellence Group and Marketing Committee since 2001 and has a wealth of experience in the industry from 22 years with Roman.

He comments: "The Association is constantly going from strength to strength as the voice of the bathroom industry and is extremely busy with its rapidly growing membership, new initiatives and the Water Label Scheme.

"I am privileged to be taking over as the new president of the BMA and would like to thank Steve Lee for all his hard work and energy over the last two years. I now look forward to working closely with the Association to reach new members and help develop the BMA further."

Attendees of the BMA AGM include BMA member companies, representatives of the media and potential new members. The AGM provides potential new members with experience of what it means to be a member of the BMA and presents them with the opportunity to speak to current members and hear about the benefits of membership.

The day included the AGM and the General Council Meeting with a presentation from Dan Rogerson MP, who provided an insight into UK Government's Environmental strategy for water and its continued support for the European Water Label.

The AGM also saw the election of Alan Dodds of Roca, to the position of First Vice President and Paul Massey of AKW to Second Vice President; a very strong and representative management team was also elected.
