VTEQ tracks fleet efficiency

VTEQ knows all about efficiency, as its nationwide business is based on helping organisations to achieve the most from their technology systems. Whether assisting with managed cloud computing, penetration testing, visualisation services or more, the Nottingham-based company has built an enviable reputation.

For expertise in fleet automation, it called in the specialists: MileageCount, a service from The Fuel Card Group.

"Our cars are constantly on the road, as our consultants visit clients all over the country, but the vehicles are used by multiple drivers," says Robin Semple, VTEQ director. "It is vital to keep accurate, complete records of all journeys so that we can have confidence in our annual HMRC reporting."

VTEQ chose MileageCount Ultimate, the most advanced of the three system options, with is used with GPS dongle tracking. Each consultant has his or her own dedicated GPS dongle, which plugs directly into any car's cigarette lighter socket. When the consultant returns to the car, the dongle is removed and plugged into a laptop for full journey details to be downloaded. Each journey is recorded using satellite tracking, accurate to within a few metres.
