I do love working from home… I rarely suffer sitting in traffic during the extended rush hour; nor do I have to squeeze myself onto ridiculously crowded trains where I’ll remain wedged in by fellow commuters – not needing to hold the rail because there’s no way I can move; let alone fall over (can we really afford to spend all that money on HS2 when our heavily-overburdened suburban lines are in such a mess?). With this week’s sunny weather, I’ve been lucky enough to have been able to cart my iMac and ‘phones into the garden where I’ve produced copy and conducted conversations in an idyllic setting that’s offered a cooling breeze. Today’s downpour means I’m back in the office – not so pleasant but at least I’ve not had to negotiate floods, unlike some unlucky commuters! If you’re one of those who have had trouble getting into work this week, may your journey home be easier! Next week, as always happens at this time of year, I’m envious of those who work and perhaps even live in London, who can simply nip out of the front door to attend what appear to be daily launches and press breakfasts, before making a brief show the office prior to enjoying a day of discovery (without having to worry about extra costs or any real travel) to visit the many delights that go to make up the London Design Festival. There is so much going on and so much I would like to see and experience, that logistically it will be impossible to fit everything in thanks to the commute at either end of the day and copy to produce at some stage. I’m going to be getting around to as much as I possibly can, but am disappointed at having to miss out on so much of it. Whether you’re unveiling anything new at, say, 100% Design, or opening the doors of your workshop to inquisitive journalists, potential retailers, or specifiers on a ‘Design Quarter’ tour, I hope your efforts are rewarded with success. All the latest Office for National Statistics show that despite predictions, the Brexit vote has not caused a catastrophe and that we are in buoyant mood. Fingers crossed that next week will prove fruitful. If you see us out and about, do make sure you come and say ‘hello’, won’t you? Yours,

'Mirror, mirror on the wall, which is the fairest of them all?' Surprisingly, many of us overlook the impact a finishing touch can have on a room, yet The Bathroom Shop recognises that it's the finer details which can give that all important WOW factor. Arguably one of the most reliant features in the bathroom, a mirror or mirrored cabinet is a must-have consideration in the early stages of design and one that should never be neglected. With bathroom interiors continuing to develop in terms of design and style, the market has moved away from the more typical mirror with few or even no features. Instead, advancements have come to the fore and welcomed a rise in digital communication which continues to mature across both home and lifestyle.
