AEG has shared with us a short summary of its findings regarding the latest trends in cooking and laundry with some figures, stats and facts on each.
New cooking trends: induction, steam and pyrolytic ovens:
* Induction hobs have seen good growth in the last three years with a more than 61% increase
* The electric hob market increased by +18.4% year-on-year during the same period
* Induction hobs now account for more than 23% of electric hob volume, up +1.5pts on last year
* 60cm induction hobs have seen good growth in the last three years at over 37%
* The >60cm electric hob market increased by +3.5% year-on-year during the same period
* 60cm+ Induction hobs account for 76% of electric hob volume, up c. +8.6pt on last year
* Steam ovens have seen good growth in the last three years at +187%
* The single electric oven market increased by +12.1% year-on-year during the same period
* Steam ovens account for 1.6% of single electric oven volume (vs 0.9% last year)
* Pyrolytic ovens have seen strong growth in the last three years at 66%
* The single electric oven market increased by +12.1% year-on-year during the same period
* Pyro ovens account for 9.7% of single electric oven volume, stable year-on-year

New laundry trends: heat pump technology:
* Heat pump dryers have seen phenomenal increase in the last three years with >350% growth
* The condenser dryer market grew by +14.5% year-on-year during the same period
* Heat pump dryers account for 9.2% of condenser dryer volume, up from 8% last year
