Recognising quality, excellence and innovation - Geberit Award winners 2015 revealed
When a customer seeks your help with making the family bathroom in their 16th Century built property 'work better' what would you advise? For Roots Kitchens, Bedrooms and Bathrooms of Faversham the answer was clear: install Geberit pipework and sanitary systems behind the wall to ensure a comfortable fit for modern sanitaryware in front of it.
So successful was the finished design that it won retailer David Root the prestigious accolade of Best Domestic Installer at the Geberit Awards 2015.
The awards aim to recognise quality workmanship and a passion for creating beautiful bathroom spaces, with the panel of judges looking for installers who take pride in their work, go the extra mile for their customers and use Geberit products to overcome tricky situations and ensure a quality finish.
The winning installation from Roots of Faversham ticked all these boxes, with David Root explaining: "The first thing we noted was the existing pipe boxing on every wall, and gaps behind the toilet and basin.
"We had to design this room to be easier to keep clean and allow for maintenance in the future. We wanted to be sure that when replacing old pipes and concealing new ones that they would last and would be accessible should maintenance be needed. Hidden quality became the key feature so selecting Geberit products was the logical solution.
"Many bathrooms start with the finish, whereas our design process is led from what's underneath, what we call the heart of the bathroom."
Competition for the 2015 Geberit Awards was particularly tough, with a very high standard of entries. Picking up second place in the Best Domestic Installer category was Mark Fowdon of Studio South West, while third place going to John Oliver of EBI Design.
Other award categories were Best Apprentice, Best Installer Team and Best Supply System Installer.
"The level of competition this year was extremely high and picking out the winners was a very tough task indeed for our expert judging panel," comments Geberit Managing Director, Mark Larden. "The awards are designed to recognise quality, excellence and innovation and it is very encouraging to see so much of all three of these important virtues being clearly demonstrated in our industry."
