Search begins for Screwfix's Trade Apprentice 2016

* Screwfix-apprentice.jpgScrewfix is launching this year's competition to find and reward the best trade apprentice in the UK. Brilliant budding builders and the next generation of electricians, plumbers and fitters can all enter for the chance to win a trade business pack worth £10,000 containing everything they need to set up on their own.

If you, or someone in your organisation, has passed a course with excellent results, already offered great customer service when out and about or worked on an unusual job, you should consider taking part in the competition. If you're a retailer employing your own fitters, just imagine the boost having the winning apprentice on your payroll will bring to your business!

Perhaps you have a keen interest in building your own business, you act with professionalism on every job or you have some great innovative product ideas? No matter what the reason, trade apprentices from across the region are invited to enter - with finalists from around the UK going head to head, at Google HQ, to be named the best in Britain.

This year's winner will receive a brilliant business pack including a Google Nexus tablet and a top of the range laptop, as well as £5,000 worth of Screwfix products and up to £3,000 to spend on training courses to further enhance that career. They will also wear the crown of Screwfix's No 1 Apprentice - standing head and shoulders above their competitors!

"As a key supplier to the trade we believe it's vital that we recognise and reward the future tradesmen across the UK as they really are the foundation of any community, ensuring homes and businesses are fit for purpose," says John Mewett, marketing director at Screwfix. "This competition has been created to give young apprentices a first step on the ladder in their career and give them the tools to help them to build a successful business."

Entries are open until Sunday 6th March, with finalists going head to head. The national final will be held at Google's head office in April, with the overall winner being named the Trade Apprentice of 2016.

Nadia Connabeer, the Trade Apprentice Winner 2015, says: "I'd recommend everyone to apply, I never thought I'd win and I've been on such a journey ever since I got the news, from the free products to the training I've received, it's helped me and my career so much!"
