Bathroom & Kitchen Business Conference 2016: new venue, important theme

This year, the Bathroom & Kitchen Business Conference moves to its new venue, the Belfry Hotel and Resort, Sutton Coldfield, which recently underwent a huge £30 million refurbishment and is set to provide the ideal location for this year's 'Towards the Circular Economy'-themed conference and fringe activities.

The hotel is easily accessible by both private and public transport and large enough to accommodate the delegates and activities arranged by the conference organisers, the multi award winning Bathroom Manufacturers Association.

The date is confirmed as Tuesday 4th October 2016. This is the main conference day which will include presentations and speeches, open forum sessions, the exhibition and, of course, Gala Dinner and BMA Media Awards.

The day before, Monday 3rd October 2016, is reserved for the annual fringe activities which, as usual, will include the Annual Charity Golf Tournament. The match raises much-needed funds for the BMA's favourite charity, The Children's Burns Trust.

Monday is also set aside for technical and marketing seminars, the BMA's General Council meeting and the annual networking dinner which is a relaxed and informal affair, always enjoyed by the industry.

This year, the conference will probe an increasingly important subject, one which is becoming a major policy priority in the UK and European Union, and one which will inevitably impact on the UK's Bathroom and Kitchen Industry.

'Towards the Circular Economy' is the theme of the conference which, as in previous years, will take delegates out of their usual comfort zone. This year, conference will investigate how enterprises not usually associated with bathrooms and kitchens tackle the corporate, social and economic consequences of cradle to cradle manufacturing, marketing and selling, whilst meeting customers' needs.

An outstanding panel of seven speakers who are experts in their field, and who are both technically brilliant and entertaining, is currently being lined up. They will present their view of the blossoming Circular Economy.

Repair, recycling and re-use will be top of the agenda since the EU is pushing hard to make landfill a thing of the past. It may surprise some to learn that the EU has already set 2030 as the deadline beyond which no more than 10% of waste can go into landfill. The use of secondary raw materials, and sustainable product design, manufacturing and marketing, are all set to be affected by possible new regulations.

The UK bathroom and kitchen industry needs to be well ahead of the pack if it is to survive and flourish.

"We have a superb conference-in-the-making this year," says Yvonne Orgill, chief executive of The Bathroom Manufacturers Association. "BMA staff are already well ahead with the arrangements, creating another unforgettable event which pushes boundaries and changes perceptions.
