Checkatrade celebrates latest partnership with successful Open Day

* open-day.jpgTrade vetting service Checkatrade.com celebrated its latest partnership with the Trading Standards Authorities by hosting a successful open day recently for local tradespeople in East Sussex.

The event, which was held in Eastbourne, saw over 40 tradespeople attend to find out more about what the Trading Standards Authorities can do for their hardworking businesses along with providing information about what the partnership means for tradespeople and consumers, whilst continuously delivering exceptional customer protection.

Checkatrade CEO and Founder Kevin Byrne was in attendance throughout the day; he said of the partnership; "It is great to showcase our scheme and fantastic partnership here in East Sussex. Our aim is to provide excellent work to the local community by protecting their properties through the security of the Trading Standards Partnership."

The Approved Trader Schemes helps consumers choose traders they can trust and rely upon and demonstrate that approved businesses follow all rules and regulations this is done by proving they have an excellent track record of fair and honest dealings with their customers.
Traders are monitored on an ongoing basis and, should issues arise and depending on the severity of the problem, a trader may be advised, suspended or removed from the scheme entirely. This ensures that only the best traders are provided by Checkatrade and the Trading Standards Authority.

The opening day also saw East Sussex's County Council head of services for communities Lucy Corrie and leading entrepreneur and charity worker Lord Brett McLean speak. Brett said of the day: "Checkatrade already have trading schemes in place in Suffolk, Kent, Nottinghamshire and Buckinghamshire to name some and it is wonderful that the scheme is now in place in East Sussex. The opening day has been a complete success for Checkatrade."

From now on all traders in East Sussex seeking Trading Standards Approval will be subject to additional vetting checks that include:

* Rigorous background checks by Trading Standards, including information that is freely available to the public as well as confidential and restricted information that is supplied by external organisations such as other public authorities and the police
* A demonstration of their commitment to comply with Trading Standards legislation
* A Criminal Background Check of responsible persons within the business

Checkatrade has gained over 2 million reviews of tradespeople to date.
