Croydex secures patent for Flexi-Fix

Croydex has been granted a patent for its Flexi-Fix 'X' plate following a successful application to the UK Intellectual Property Office.

Launched in 2012, the no-mess, no-fuss range provides a simple solution for mounting bathroom accessories without damaging decor thanks to a unique 'X' plate which can be fitted using existing holes or screwed to new ones. Alternatively, it can be glued to most surfaces, including uneven walls or shiny surfaces, eliminating the need for drilling completely.

"Our in-house design team is constantly thinking of pioneering ideas to simplify product installation and use but good product design takes time; there is no quick fix when you are committed to quality and reliability," says Croydex product and procurement director, Peter Pegden.

"This ingenuity is at the heart of our reputation for designing innovative, practical bathroom accessories. Protecting the intellectual property behind our products is therefore vital."

The Flexi-Fix collection of wall-mounted accessories, which was recently expanded to include shower sets and rust free wire storage baskets, comprises towel rails and rings, glass shelving and toilet roll holders, tumblers and soap holders.

The patent application process requires a full description of the invention, including any drawings, a set of claims defining it and a short abstract summarising the technical features.

Croydex currently holds 15 patents with a further 14 pending.
