AKW promotes independent living on Care England and ITN's 'Caring Communities'
AKW, manufacturer of accessible bathroom, kitchen and mobility support solutions, has been extensively featured on a programme titled 'Caring Communities', produced jointly by ITN Productions and Care England.
Now in its third year running, the programme features key industry interviews and news-style reports along with sponsored editorial profiles, exploring the complex role of care and the remarkable initiatives happening in the sector as demand grows exponentially.
Both the programme and AKW, are introduced by renowned television journalist and Alzheimer's Society Ambassador Angela Rippon OBE, who says: "With an aging population and increasing strains on our health, social and care services, encouraging and enabling independent living is really more important than ever. AKW is dedicated to improving people's lives through their bespoke solutions, which are tailored to individuals living with health issues such as dementia and arthritis."
Caring Communities shines a spotlight on AKW's dedication to the sector, highlighting the company's constant focus on the end-user, the carer and the installer. Paul Massey, group CEO of AKW, says: "Our philosophy is about retaining people's independence in the home: supporting them with considered solutions that aid accessibility, inclusivity, dignity and mobility.
"Our approach is to understand exactly what the requirements are of the end-user and we work with occupational therapists and focus groups up and down the country to do this."
The programme includes several testimonials from Orbit Housing Association and the managers and residents of Dell Court as well as the installers, Dodds Group. Says Sarah Leahy property investment manager at Orbit Living, one of the largest housing providers in the UK: "We like to put the customer at the heart of everything that we do and we feel that AKW has this ethos as well."
With AKW's continuous investment in research and development, the programme details the company's latest innovations, including iCare -a digitally enhanced, stylish, BEAB Care certified electric shower that can be operated remotely via remote control or smartphone app, allowing users to maintain their privacy.
AKW's investment in operating its own dedicated product delivery fleet is also featured.
Bruce Lockton, group operations director at AKW, says: "Operating our own fleet gives us total control over our service delivery. Product damage is now extremely rare and on-time statistics for our 100,000 deliveries a year stands at 99.8%."
