Abode's Matthew Pitt takes up the challenge of a long distance walk

* Abode_Matthew-Pitt.jpgMatthew Pitt, commercial & operations director of Abode, has taken on the challenge to walk The Dales Way, an 84-mile walk, in aid of the Alzheimer's Society. The charity is close to Matthew's heart as his father, unfortunately, suffers from vascular dementia.

The 84-mile walk starts on 14th May from Windermere in the Lake District to Matthew's home town and birthplace Ilkley, which is in Wharfedale, West Yorkshire. As well as fatigue, bad weather and blisters, he'll be trying to avoid the ill effects of over-indulging during the evenings in the excellent hostelries along the way.

Three friends, who suggested the challenge, are all good walkers and will also be undertaking the walk with him over the five-day period, although none of them have ever walked the full length of this long-distance footpath before. What a challenge!

"Hopefully we will manage to raise significant donations for this worthy charity along the way," says Matthew. "I have chosen to support the Alzheimers Society in the hope that ongoing research into dementia will eventually save other families from its devastating effects.

"My target was £1,000 but that has already been reached by friends, colleagues, suppliers and distributors. If you would like to support me please visit my JustGiving page."
