Kitchen market in strong position
The 2017 edition of JKMR's Overview Report shows that despite the growing pressure on the economy and consumer confidence, the UK fitted kitchen market saw another strong year of growth in 2016, with further growth projected for 2017.
In 2016 market activity was 7.5% higher than achievement in 2015, with fitted kitchen product sales nearing £4billion and new kitchen installation numbers at almost 1.2million, driven by sales to new build as well as a still strong owner-occupier refurbishment market.
JKMR analysis shows that all product sectors saw growth with the integrated MDA and sink/tap sectors the best performers; however, these sector growth rates were in part driven by price increases and 2017 is expected to see increased pressure on supplier margins.
The new report highlights the continuing changes in market structure, with the growth of 'studio style' mass-volume player Wren and IKEA having an impact on both the multiple and studio sectors, while the independent retail sector in its widest sense is continuing to evolve with new styles of players.
The new report, from the industry's only company to specialise in fitted kitchen market research, supplies an in-depth review of the likely effects of economic conditions, retailing trends, political change, and housing tenure on the future of the fitted kitchen market, including the impact on individual sectors and major players.
The Overview Report provides long-term trend data on market size, channel share, supplier performance, price sector and product trends, along with wide-ranging analysis on how external factors may affect market performance over the next 12-36 months.
The Overview Report is a key tool for suppliers and retailers across the market in identifying the most dynamic players, the reasons for their success, and the future outlook for market growth.
