New thermostatic regulator from Altecnic ensures constant water temperature

* Altecnic-thermostatic-reg.jpgDesigned to maintain specified water temperatures automatically, the new 116 thermostatic regulator for domestic hot water recirculation is now available from Midlands-based provider of high-quality plumbing and heating components, Altecnic.

The 116 thermal balancing valve is intended for installation in the return pipe of each recirculation circuit, automatically maintaining the desired water temperature.

The regulator controls the flow rate in accordance with the inlet water temperature using a dedicated internal thermostatic cartridge. When the water temperature approaches the set value, the amount of water recirculating is automatically reduced.

With a reputation earned over 30 years for providing innovative plumbing and heating solutions, Altecnic - part of the Caleffi group - has designed the 116 thermostatic regulator to deliver effective automatic thermal balancing when water supplied by the recirculation pump is distributed to other branches in the system.

Equipped with a thermal disinfection function - particularly useful if the water temperature exceeds 55 degrees C to 60 degrees C - the new regulator is available with a temperature gauge and a probe pocket for the temperature gauge. The 116 also offers a maximum working pressure of 10 bar, maximum differential pressure of 1 bar, a temperature adjustment range of 35 degrees C to 65 degrees C and a disinfection temperature of 70 degrees C.

If a temperature higher than 65 degrees C is reached, a second thermostatic sensor controls the disinfection process, allowing circulation independent of the action of the first thermostat. This ensures a flow of hot water through a special bypass as the temperature increases to 70 degrees C. If the temperature rises above this, the flow through the bypass circuit is reduced to allow thermal balancing during the disinfection process. Should the temperature reach around 75 degrees C, the regulator ensures minimum flow rate so that water does not circulate at too high a temperature.

Among the accessories available for the 116 thermostatic regulator is a thermoelectric actuator, a 24V or 240V electric actuator and a cartridge for use with the electric actuator.

Gary Perry, Altecnic's managing director says: "Thermal balancing is a vitally important function in any plumbing and heating installation and this new product puts Altecnic at the forefront of this extremely important market sector."

Established near Stafford, Altecnic works closely with its manufacturing partner, Caleffi, to develop continually a diverse high quality, precision heating and plumbing product range that is always evolving in anticipation of new regulations and market trends. As a result, the company's products and services are chosen by trade merchants, original equipment manufacturers, plumbing and heating engineers and specifiers.

The first business in its industry to be a CarbonNeutral company, Altecnic is also proud to be ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and 18001:2007 certified.
