Sirius Annual Awards & Gala Dinner 2018
Sirius Buying Group honoured some of its approved suppliers and members at its Annual Awards & Gala Dinner recently.
The event, which proved the perfect finale to the Group's exclusive two-day Members Trade Show, enabled Sirius to recognise industry excellence across the electrical appliance retail sectors and thank everyone for their continued support and investment in the Group, both a professional and personal scale. The Award Winners were:
* Manufacturer of the Year: Hoover Candy Group
* Distributor of the Year: Pik a Pak/Statesman
* SDA Supplier of the Year: Connect Distribution
* Retailer of the Year (Large): Appliance World (NW)
* Retailer of the Year (Medium): Future Appliances
* Representative of the Year: Ian Cullen - GDHA
* Lifetime Achievement: Colin Jones - Enterprise 2000
As well as the winners, a number of others were 'highly commended' and these were Liebherr (Manufacturer of the Year), D.A.D./Montpellier (Distributor of the Year), Harry Garlick and Empire Spares (Retailer of the Year - Large)
Once the Awards part of the evening came to a close it was time for the Group to encourage everyone to support a worthy cause, which resulted in a staggering £11,000 raised for charity!
"Every year we ask our members and approved suppliers to elect a charity to support throughout our Awards night and this year the commendable nominee was MIND," explains Steve Jones, commercial director at Sirius.
"The charity was put forward by one of our Approved Sirius Members, Andrew Carke of Abbey Appliances, Evesham, who will help raise money by completing the unbelievable challenge of scaling Mount Everest to reach base camp at 19,000 feet!
"We take this opportunity to embrace the humanitarian side of business with our peers and ultimately 'give back'. The auction was presented by Russ Williams, the MC for the evening where 'Approved Sirius Suppliers' donated a range of exciting products and prizes for the room to bid on and win.
"We have amazing support from all of our suppliers for raising money for charity, we would like to thank them once again.
"This year, product contributions for Sirius's charity auction came from leading brands like GDHA, Samsung, Liebherr, Hotpoint, Symphony and Franke to name a few and included anything from two tickets to a Keswick Cookery School Day, through to a 40in. full HD LED Smart TV and a mass of leading appliances and unforgettable experience days."
