VitrA launches Equal - a new bathroom collection created in collaboration with Italian architect & designer Claudio Bellini
Pursuing its longstanding tradition of working with acclaimed international designers, leading bathroom brand VitrA announces its latest collaboration with celebrated architect and designer, Claudio Bellini.
Launched at ISH this year Equal explores the fusion between the organic shapes found in nature with the architectural lines present in an urban environment.
For Equal, Claudio Bellini has reimagined the modern bathroom through an architectural lens. The collection makes use of repeated geometric shapes which emphasise the differences between the products, such as the option to incorporate a suspended towel rail or LED lighting. The minimalist approach to the design is complemented by the monochrome hues and metallic finishes that Bellini has selected.
The contemporary collection infuses the washroom with tranquillity through its use of pure shapes and seamless joints. Developed carefully in collaboration with VitrA's in-house design team, Equal aims at maintaining the illusion of fluidity - using the smooth edges to mimic the natural cavities found in lakes, alongside more structured lines to ground the aesthetic. Exploring the synthesis between manmade structures and natural shapes creates the perfect harmony throughout the collection.
The collection establishes a consistent flow through the use of sleek metal rails and fine lines, connecting each piece to the next. The clean edges of the furniture are reflected in the washbasins, emphasising the overall delicacy of the collection. The rectangular mirrors also echo these shapes and are available in three proportionate sizes. The careful attention to structure and silhouette contributes to the cohesion of the range.
The repetition of organic shapes is reflected throughout the collection, maintaining the overall theme of balance. This elegance is emphasised through the sleek frame of the products, from the unique form of the WC and bidet to the slender oval of the washbasin overflow. Utilising consistent shapes, clean borders and industrial accents, Equal aims to emulate the defined structures found in modernist architecture.
"Through this partnership with Claudio Bellini, VitrA were able to approach bathroom furniture from a new, architectural perspective," notes Erdem Akan, design director, VitrA. "Focusing on structureand shape, we were able to explore innovative design concepts that have developed into a stylish and functional collection."
The Equal collection is VitrA's latest addition to its extensive portfolio of designer collections. The delicate and modern nature of the design makes it ideal for both commercial and residential spaces.
