Franke enlists help of award-winning culinary historian for its 2019 Blooming Great Tea Party

* Franke-charity.jpgPaying homage to Queen Victoria's 200th anniversary, Franke's 2019 Blooming Great Tea Party fundraiser for Marie Curie, held between 21st and 23rd June, will take on a royal theme this year with its exclusive Victoria Sponge cake recipe specially developed by Regula Ysewijn, an award-winning cookbook author and culinary historian with a love for Britain.

Ysewijn's debut book P'ride and Pudding - the history of British Puddings Savoury and Sweet', won the Gourmand World Book Awards 'Culinary Heritage' category in 2017 and she has recently released the National Trust Book of Puddings, which explores nostalgic sweet treats.

She is also known for her website Miss Foodwise and has a large social media following on which she shares her historic culinary knowledge and recipes. She also co-hosts a baking programme on prime-time Belgian TV.

Franke is encouraging its More in Store retailers across the UK and Ireland to participate in its nationwide tea party event which is now in its 6th year and has become a firm favourite in retailers' calendars as a way to raise valuable funds for Marie Curie, while increasing footfall into their showrooms in a fun and engaging way.

Retailers can sign up to the tea party event quickly and easily by visiting www.franke.co.uk before the closing deadline of Monday 3rd June.

Participating retailers will receive Victoria Sponge cakes free of charge, enough to hold a tea party for 24 people. They also receive a range of marketing assets including posters, postcards, tent cards and a news release template to promote the events in their local communities before and during the event.

Jeanette Ward, communications manager, Franke, says of the initiative: "Every year we aim to give our retailers something different to engage with for the Marie Curie fundraiser.

"We're thrilled to have Regula's expertise in culinary history and baking to develop a cake for us that's so rich with tradition for a modern-day event and we hope this entices retailers and customers to enjoy the experience and raise money for an important cause."

Last year, Franke retailers fundraised more than £7,000, which helped Marie Curie to fund hundreds of hours of vital nursing care.
