VitrA Bathrooms announces its first RIBA-accredited CPD 'Bathroom Design and Specification: Ceramic Sanitaryware'
Leading bathroom manufacturer VitrA announces its Continuing Professional Development (CPD) module, approved by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Earning professionals a valuable eight points, the seminar Bathroom Design and Specification:
Ceramic Sanitaryware provides a practical insight into working with ceramic sanitaryware and the specific considerations and processes.
Margaret Talbot, marketing manager for VitrA explains: "The purpose of this CPD seminar is to help professionals involved in designing and specifying bathrooms with important areas of consideration, like; innovations, modern technologies, sustainability and improving sustainability ratings for buildings."
The training session covers the characteristics of the different ceramic materials used and the six-step manufacturing process from preparing the raw materials to casting and vitrifying methods and quality control. It also explains the diverse range of regulations involved in sanitary and water installations including the Code of Practice for Sanitary Installations and the WRAS approval.
The seminar also touches on sustainability, discussing topics such as reducing the use of non-renewable resources, boosting eco-efficiency and promoting resource conservation.
A first for VitrA Bathrooms, the CPD follows three successful modules by the VitrA tiles division: Understanding, specifying and designing with tiles; Specifying tiles for the hospitality sector; and Swimming pools with a tile finish.
The main manufacturing facility produces over five million items of ceramic sanitaryware a year alongside around three million taps, 2.5 million accessories and 30 million sq.m of tiles. The Tuzla plant in Istanbul is focused on bathroom furniture and mosaic tiles, while the factory at Gebze concentrates on acrylic products including baths, whirlpools, shower trays, and shower systems.
Within the main complex is VitrA's Innovation Centre - a state-of-the-art building accommodating the company's research and development strands. It's an environment specifically designed to facilitate the meeting of conceptual ideas with design, research and technology, conceived as a place where design collaborators, in-house design teams and technicians can work alongside each other to exchange knowledge and explore shared goals.
The company has a longstanding tradition of working with acclaimed international designers and has forged enduring relationships with the likes of Ross Lovegrove, Claudio Bellini and Matteo Thun to produce many award-winning collections.
With two further factories on the outskirts of Moscow producing ceramic sanitaryware and tiles, VitrA is leading the way in terms of scale of manufacturing capacity - providing clear benefits for specifiers and the roster of international designers who collaborate with the company.
The CPD seminars have been designed to fit into a lunchtime session and award eight points. To enquire about booking, please contact:
