Exclusive: Verona offers advice to help companies adapt during the current crisis
It has been a turbulent few weeks, as the kitchen and bathroom industry and the whole of the UK goes through an unprecedented time. Businesses are switching strategies, and adapting to the new climate as seamlessly as they can.
Adrian Hinchliffe, managing director of Verona, the UK's largest distributor of tiles, comments on the crisis the industry is currently facing: "We have been through tough times before, but this crisis brings with it a whole new challenge. As a business, our number one priority is to safeguard our employees and customers by following Government guidelines.
"Since the outbreak, we have based all office staff from home and temporarily closed our warehouse whilst we review the latest Government guidelines. Our trade portal is still live for orders and our customer service team will be contacting customers with delivery dates once the warehouse is fully operational again.
"We are also supporting our customers with extended credit terms to help them manage their cashflow during this difficult period."
Adrian offers these tips to those in the industry:
Keep communicating: Encourage the sales team to pick up the phone to customers, and keep email marketing and social channels up to date with the latest news, and regular updates about what you are doing as a company during the crisis.
Follow the Government's advice: The health and wellbeing of staff, colleagues and customers is what's important right now, and we need to remember that. If you are facing financial pressure, find out more about the Government's financial aid packages.
