Electrolux Group appliances awarded 22 Red Dot awards for product design

* Electrolux-3D-oven.jpgElectrolux has achieved an outstanding result in 2013's Red Dot design awards, securing a total of 22 awards for high quality design for Electrolux, AEG and Zanussi.

Appliances including ovens, hoods, hobs, dishwashers, washing machines and vacuum cleaners were all recognized by the international jury.

"Winning globally prestigious design awards such as the Red Dot is of course something we are proud of at Electrolux, but even more importantly: it supports our growth strategy," says Electrolux Chief Design Officer Stefano Marzano. "It builds brand equity, protects us from imitation, and offers recognition among peers, employees and new talent. It also adds an independent seal of approval to our products."

More than 4,600 products from 1,865 designers, architects and companies from 54 countries were submitted in the 19 different categories in the Award: Product Design 2013. Less than a quarter of these passed the needle's eye of the jury, which consisted of top designers from around the world, including the renowned shoe designer Jimmy Choo.

The design judging criteria included the degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics and durability, among other things.

The past year was one of extensive launches for the Electrolux group, with innovative new products launched under the Electrolux Inspiration Range, Zanussi Quadro and AEG's Neue Kollektion. All of these ranges were represented among the winning submissions, as was the new Electrolux UltraOne Mini vacuum cleaner.

Electrolux Inspiration Range: This full range of products under the Electrolux brand was introduced in 2012. It was one of the Group's largest launches ever in Europe, featuring a distinctive and modern design. With these new appliances Electrolux put its professional experience to work, making it easier to achieve outstanding results at home thanks to features and functionalities inspired by decades of supporting professional chefs who choose Electrolux appliances to equip their restaurant kitchens.

Zanussi QUADRO Range: The range of Quadro built in appliances reenergised and reaffirmed the Zanussi design identity, offering easy-to-use appliances with smart functions. The range maintains the same vertical alignment, clean lines and rigorous form that Zanussi established with its award-winning Quadro products in 1999.

AEG Neue Kollektion: Launched in 2011, this range of products has already been critically acclaimed and recognised for its functional and stylish design. It won a number of red dot awards in 2011, with this year's prizes garnered for the "simply excellent" design of two cooker hoods.

UltraOne Mini: UltraOne Mini is based on technology developed for the Electrolux UltraOne vacuum cleaner, which won the 2010 iF Design Award and the German Plus X Award for 'Best product of the year' in 2011. The UltraOne Mini is more than 30% smaller than typical vacuum cleaners, but with a performance comparable to many full-sized premium vacuum cleaners. UltraOne Mini has a modern, distinctive design, wrapped in a smooth, steel blue metallic shell.

Winners of the awards included:

Electrolux InfiSight oven: Inspired by Electrolux Professional appliances, the Electrolux InfiSight pyrolitic oven will help you achieve high standards of cooking in your very own home.
Electrolux Inspiration Washing Machine: Electrolux professional laundry systems use steam to refresh and de-wrinkle delicate items and can hold an extra-large washing capacity of 10kg.
Zanussi Quadro Hood: This stylish hood from Zanussi extracts up to 520 m? per hour to keep a 20m? kitchen smelling fresh in an instant.
