Property claims management company receives official TrustMark approval for its building repair network

Insurers using the MA Assist building repair network will now be able to assure policy holders their homes will be refurbished by high quality contractors and tradesmen approved to Government-endorsed standards.

Following MA Assist's success in achieving scheme operator status for TrustMark, the Government-backed quality mark for tradesmen who do home repairs and improvements, they will give their members the opportunity to become TrustMark registered. It will only be mandatory for new firms joining their network. As a result MA Assist's contractors will now carry the TrustMark badge to give additional protection and reassurance to consumers.

MA Assist delivers a national service covering all elements of building repair. It uses a mix of employed trades via MA Build and other specialist contractors who undertake property reinstatement work as part of its supply chain solution for clients such as RSA, Towergate and Allianz.

MA Assist became a licensed TrustMark scheme operator in July, following a thorough assessment of all its processes for vetting and inspecting contractors as well as its customer service policies, compliance audits, quality management and complaint handling procedures. As part of its preparation for achieving TrustMark scheme operator status, the company also obtained ISO 9001 accreditation in January this year.

Paul Hayman, Chief Executive of MA Assist, sys: "For those insurers who don't simply cash-settle property claims but offer customers a repair service, using MA Assist's TrustMark-registered tradesmen sends a clear signal about customer service and responsible refurbishment.

"It shouts out that an insurance company cares about the policy holder's experience of tradesmen in their home, cares about the tradesman's credentials, and also cares that the work will be done properly in order to reduce the risk of future claims.

"Becoming a TrustMark scheme operator is a huge endorsement for the way we performance manage building repairs and refurbishment. It is a badge that our contractors can show the customer, proving that they have been properly assessed and inspected and will work to Government-endorsed standards. It's a very proud day for MA Assist and all our network partners."

Ray Ferris, TrustMark's Head of Quality and Regulatory Affairs, adds: "MA Assist put in an excellent application which the Board was pleased to approve. It has demonstrated an eagerness to embrace the high standards and responsibilities we expect of all scheme operators, and the opportunity to work and grow with TrustMark. Customers can feel rightfully confident in a TrustMark-registered tradesman coming to them via MA Assist's national repair service."
