Lustrolite continues to impress kitchen installers with its sleek finish and ease of installation

* LUSTROLITE.jpgWith over 30 years' experience of selling and installing kitchens, Tim Naisbett of Distinctive Interiors, in Essex, has seen many new products. When he discovered Lustrolite he was so impressed that he installed the high gloss acrylic wall panels as the splash-backs to two of his showroom displays. His clients were equally enthusiastic and one couple quickly chose Titan Grey Lustrolite panels to complement their new kitchen.

Debbie and Robert Lawrence-Smyth travelled the 90 miles from their home in Bromley, Kent, to visit the Colchester-based Distinctive Interiors. Tim Naisbett helped them design a kitchen for the new extension to the 1930s house they were renovating and the Lustrolite panels, from Abacus Direct, provided the perfect splashback for the contemporary look of the stone coloured doors of the German kitchen.

The Lawrence-Smyth's kitchen was being installed to meet a Christmas deadline so Abacus delivered direct to site. The panels, which look like glass, were fitted the following day, a process that took less than six hours. Unlike glass, which would have involved the lengthy process of having to create a template and send it away for fabrication, Tim Naisbett was able to cut and installed the Lustrolite himself on site and easily trim it exactly to fit. The resulting finish was crisp and clean, helped by the installation kit which comes with a pad to rub away saw marks on the edges of the panels.

Weighing less than a quarter of a traditional glass sheet, Lustrolite has 20 times the impact strength. The colour is permanently fused to the clear layer and it is highly resistant to harsh chemicals, like bleaches and solvents, because of its unique hard coated surface. Applications include shower walls, bathrooms and kitchens.

Tim Naisbett, the owner of Distinctive Interiors, comments: "From an installation viewpoint Lustrolite is a dream. Not only is it simple and straightforward to install but the fact that you can cut it on site means it's great for the client as there's no delay. It's a no brainer, the time saving alone makes it more affordable than glass.

"The client is delighted with the finished result and feels that the Lustrolite panels have really complimented the quality of the kitchen. It looks knockout."
