Andrew Strauss puts grassroots cricket on the front foot

* Strauss.jpgA major initiative to support grassroots cricket teams is back - this time with help from former England captain, Andrew Strauss OBE.

AEG is helping grassroots teams conquer the chore of kit provision and care for the third year running with the chance to win bespoke cricket whites and a top of the range washing machine, plus three training sessions with sporting heroes, including Andrew Strauss. To enter, teams must pitch the reasons why they should win to AEG via its Facebook tab that opened yesterday (Thursday 15 May).

Twenty shortlisted teams will win the ultimate kit and laundry package - bespoke cricket kits and an AEG...KO Mix washing machine to keep them looking pristine - before entering into a public vote that will decide who wins one of the hat-trick of training sessions. Part of the AEG ...KO (meaning 'eco') range launched just this month, the...KO Mix is said to be 50% more efficient than the highest EU appliance rating (A+++ washing machine).

Through its support of grassroots sport over the past two years, AEG has given away more than 2,500 kits and 250 washing machines, enabling clubs up and down the country to improve the lifetime of kits and redirect valuable funds into other vital resources and facilities.

"It's never been more important to inspire and excite budding cricket players," argues Andrew Strauss. AEG's support of grassroots is a great example of how we can better support the teams in our local community by improving access to training and washing machines, and I'm proud to be part of it. The team kit has a functional quality but it also plays a big part in boosting morale and instilling pride in the players, which can have a psychological effect on how they perform on the pitch. That's what makes this initiative so unique.

"I would urge anyone who is involved in a cricket team - whether as a coach, parent or player - to get their entry in today."
Graham Bremer, Head of Marketing (UK & Ireland) at AEG, adds: "We are immensely proud of what's been achieved over the last few years, especially when we look back at the subsequent success enjoyed by past winners.

"It's just wonderful seeing the players' reactions when they meet their cricketing heroes, and seeing our previous winners go on to greater things.
"We appreciate the challenges faced by grassroots teams, and we know how proud these teams are of their kits. We understand how important it is to keep them looking pristine, which is why the ...KO Mix washing machine which is sure to become a real asset for the club."

Entries close Sunday 15 June 2014. To enter, visit the grassroots cricket tab on the AEG Facebook page: www.facebook.com
