Burlington in bloom: decorated sanitaryware is coming back!
Burlington Bathrooms has launched a decorated floral English Garden range into its Burlington Brand.
Pattern is nothing new - Victorian and Edwardian sanitary ware was often covered in a riot of colour, with flowers a firm favourite. The UK enjoyed a brief love affair with decoration on traditional designs in the 80s, and then all white became the enduring key trend.
Visitors to the style-setting Cersaie show in Italy this year would have reason to think decoration is heading back with many Italian companies showing splashes of colour, pattern and edge decoration. There is definitely a place for decoration, especially in traditional styles where homeowners want to create an authentic period interior. The look is also highly popular in the Russian, Chinese, US and Arab markets.
Burlington Bathrooms prides itself on combining beautiful period design with the best of modern technology. The brand has just introduced English Garden, a period range decorated with flowers. The suite includes close coupled, low level and high level WCs, a 65cm basin and pedestal in round and rectangular formats and a bidet. "We know that there is demand for this style, especially from our overseas customers," comments Nico de Beer, export director. "There is also interest from owners of period property in the UK. Combined with one of our freestanding roll top baths, English Garden makes a charming and authentic period style bathroom."
