Brabantia kicks-off 2011 with new on-line design competition
Following the success of its 'Iron In Style' competition two years ago, Brabantia is to run the event again in the UK, Belgium, The Netherlands and France. The previous competition was a huge hit, attracting some 1,100 entries, and the company is keen to repeat that success.
The competition is running for three months until 10th April and Brabantia is calling on everyone with a creative flair - whether amateur or professional - to come up with an original and individual design for an ironing table cover. There are great prizes to be won for the best entries from each country, plus a top international prize for the best design overall - to see his or her design go into production and on sale across Europe.
"Following the enthusiastic responses to our original competition, we just had to run it again," says Brabantia UK sale director, David Slater. "We certainly achieved the aim of encouraging design creativity, while also making ironing both fun and enjoyable. We were also amazed by the quality and variety of designs submitted, making it very difficult to choose between them.
"This time we're encouraging entrants to get their friends and family involved by getting them to vote as well, so it should be even more exciting."
It's quick and easy to enter, both for beginners and professional designers. You can create your own design with the easy-to-use Picnik feature on the website, while more advanced designers can really express themselves by using Photoshop, GIMP, Paint or any other illustration programme. Then upload your design via the website. Full information, rules and entry details are included.
The 10 best entries in each country will receive Brabantia products to a value of between £75 and £500. The overall international winner will also see his or her design go into production and sold across Europe.
'Voters' will also get the chance to win: every 100th person to vote will receive a handy Brabantia laundry folding board.
In keeping with the current vogue for individualisation and personalisation of everyday household items, Brabantia is counting on your creative spirit to respond to its 'Iron in Style' challenge. We aren't looking for technical design wizardry, but instead think that those who actually do the ironing will be able to bring a surprising and fresh insight to cover design!
