EDF Energy teams up with Wickes to provide low-cost insulation for millions
EDF Energy, the UK's largest producer of low carbon electricity, has teamed up with Home Improvement retailer Wickes to provide low-cost DIY insulation for domestic households.
The partnership will run until 31st December 2012 and will enable people up and down the country to insulate their homes for less by taking advantage of Wickes' Insulation and Energy Saving Lighting products, subsidised by EDF Energy.
Loft insulation can save customers up to £145 on their annual energy bill and up to 730kg of CO2, according to Energy Saving Trust calculations.
Angus Wilby, Head of Energy Services at EDF Energy, says: "We are delighted to be able to offer subsidised insulation to people through our partnership with Wickes. Finances are stretched for many families at the moment and this DIY insulation offer is a great, inexpensive way of saving money on energy bills.
"We all know how important it is to insulate our homes to save energy and money and this partnership will help more people do just that.
"Sustainability is at the heart of EDF Energy as demonstrated in our industry-leading position as the largest producer of low carbon electricity."
Ian Preedy, Group Buying Director at Wickes, says: "Our partnership with EDF Energy allows us to offer our DIY customers insulation at extremely competitive prices.
"Insulation is a cost effective home improvement and we would strongly encourage all home owners to ensure they have adequate levels of insulation."
The partnership, between two of the UK's leading companies in their fields, shows how business can work together to save customers' money and help move forward the change to energy efficient homes.
Loft insulation rolls, available through Wickes are now a quarter of their previous price. Before the CERT scheme started, Wickes was selling loft roll insulation at around £30 a roll. Wickes are currently offering the customer four rolls for a similar price.
