Furniture makers cycle to charity success
It was certainly the case of 'going the extra mile' last month, as a team of 22 furniture makers embarked on an extremely arduous and ambitious cycle challenge in the name of charity.
Led by Burbidge managing director, Ben Burbidge, this September saw the team, all drawn from within the British furnishings industries, complete a 6-day 450-mile bike challenge from the City of London to Bordeaux in South Western France.
Although donations are still rolling in, the team has already far exceeded its target of raising £50,000, with the figure currently standing at £58,000. All funds will go towards The Furniture Makers' Company, which supports education, excellence and welfare throughout the furniture and furnishings industries.
"The Furniture Makers' Company is a vital resource which provides much needed support, advice and even financial assistance to those working in the furnishing industry, and is one that is very close to all our of hearts," says Ben Burbidge.
"While it was by no means an easy task, it was inspiring to see teams from all over the industry converging at the finish line in Bordeaux. We are incredibly proud to have now raised in excess of £58K - which we know The Furniture Makers' Company will put to good use."
