How changing UK bathing habits can boost business for KBB retailers

* CHANGING-UK.jpgThe age-old ritual of relaxing in a long and luxurious bath is dying out, a recent survey revealed. Just 4% of people are now choosing to take a soak compared with over three quarters (79%) who prefer to take a quick and efficient shower.

Ash Chilver, sales director at HiB, has some ideas on how this change in our personal habits can be used to the advantage of the KBB industry.

"Bathrooms are under a lot of pressure from the modern consumer, with busy lifestyles changing the way we're interacting with the space," comments. "However, whilst users may struggle to find time for a relaxing bath, they still want to create an atmosphere which can truly help them unwind.

"With this in mind, there is a clear opportunity for retailers to help advise customers on the best way to make their bathroom as tranquil and as intuitive as possible, no matter how small the space, or how time-pushed the user.

"Lighting is an essential consideration which can change the mood of a bathroom in the flick of a switch. Illuminated mirrors which offer a choice of warm or cool LED lighting are therefore bang on trend. By offering a range of tones, bathroom users can match the lighting to their mood and activity, whether cool white for an invigorating morning, or a softer tone for a restorative and relaxing evening."

"As the bathing habits of UK consumers evolve to meet changing lifestyles, it is vital for KBB retailers to develop their offering in-line with this, in order to provide the best possible recommendations and capitalise on potential new revenue streams."
