'We Are Water' foundation launches international short film competition

Roca-water-man.jpgRoca's 'We Are Water' foundation has announced the launch of its first international short film competition 'We Art Water'. The competition aims to raise awareness and generate debate about the world's growing water problem.

Budding film directors can enter into three separate categories:

* Micro-documentary - a demonstration of talent for synthesis and your narrative skill in telling a story, whether real or fictional

* Animation - a demonstration of illustration and animation, from basic stop-motion to cutting-edge 3D

* Mobile - the only requirement for this category is that the story be recorded using a mobile device.

Each entry must be an original piece of work created especially for the We Art Water Film Festival and address the chosen theme of 'Water and Food Safety' chosen by the UN for World Water Day 2012.

Each of the winners from the three categories will be awarded the opportunity to travel to one of the We Are Water foundations projects to film a documentary, a scholarship to take a masters in documentaries and society in the Escac School of Cinema in Spain, attend the filming of Head Judge, Isabel Coixet's next project and a selection of audio/visual equipment.

The public will also decide on a winner by the amount of 'likes' the finalists receive on Facebook. The one to three minute films must start and end with credit details of those involved in the film and any text or audio must be accompanied by English subtitles.

Joining Film Director Isobel Coixet on the judging panel will be; Actress, Film Director, and Singer, Maria de Medeiros, Spain's UN representative, Carlos Jimenez, Director of Fotogramas, Tonu Ulled, We Are Water Foundation Director, Xavier Torras and Writer, Scriptwriter, and Film Director, Ray Loriga.

All entries must be submitted by 30 April 2012, to:
