The many visitors to the 20-20 Technologies were treated to individual demonstrations of how the company's design software can add value to a business, complement its existing expertise and offer customers the opportunity to experience their dream kitchen or bathroom, before it's even installed.
Managing Director Craig Rothwell told us that the stand had been "inundated with new business start-ups, keen to find out as much as possible about the industry and what's available to them to make their businesses as successful as possible."
And we thought we were supposed to be hovering on the brink of another recession...
But it was not all about new business start-ups. There were plenty of visitors from established companies too. "The customer is pushing the industry to experiment with how it interacts, whether it is entirely face to face, online or a combination of the two. The 20-20 Technologies suite of products enables a single showroom retailer, right through to multi-site corporation, to build an experience to suit both their and their customers' needs," he said.
"We are saying to them: 'Let us show you how technology has changed and impacted the industry over the past couple of years and where it will take us in the future'.
"We all know and accept that the customer is becoming more knowledgeable due to the wealth of information available on the Internet; however, are we in denial as to how much this is impacting the way we do business?
"The customer is demanding that the retailer offers a more advanced service, and technology is changing the way we interact with them; from the initial contact, right the way through to the delivery of a project. The 20-20 Fusion software offers the perfect accompaniment to any retailer wanting to offer a whole lot more."
kbb Birmingham was the launch site for the latest version of 20-20 Fusion. This was complemented by seminars for both existing and new customers presenting the highlights of the new release. The seminars also gave hints on best practice, how to reduce designing times and how to get the most out of the software to meet your individual business needs.
Attendees of the customer seminars were also treated to a sneak preview of 20-20 Fusion's next generation of software, launching in late 2012. This will see the software take on a whole new look and feel, offering a richer and more exciting user experience based upon an intuitive and easy to use interface built on the foundation of the existing 20-20 Fusion features and functionality.
Having built an enviable reputation for innovation, quality and customer driven functionality, 20-20 Fusion is the result of over 25 years of continuous product development and is used by over 50% of the KBB sector as an intrinsic part of their business.
Hundreds of manufacturers' catalogues are integrated into the software, which gives users the freedom to include items from multiple manufacturers within any one design. The software gives an added sense of realism by incorporating actual appliances, products and accessories from the world's biggest brands - all rendered in unbeatable graphical detail.
Catalogues are regularly updated to ensure that the very latest products are always available to work with, allowing you to design with real product codes recognisable to you.
At the same time, pricing is kept up to date, enabling you to work confidently within the constraints of a budget, keep an eye on profit margins, or manage special pricing structures where necessary.
Prices are automatically generated for all manufacturer products, based upon the specific styles and materials selected, using the appropriate product codes for each item. When your design is complete, detailed quotes, invoices, fitting reports, sales and manufacturer orders can be produced instantly with the ability to print, fax or e-mail your supplier directly from 20-20 Fusion.
Throughout the lifespan of each project, managing client and design information is easy - making sure that orders have been processed, delivery dates are confirmed, payments have been received and much, much more - putting you in control of far more than just the aesthetics.
"The software creates an incredible gap between an average designer and a good one," promised Craig. "The tools are there to be used to enhance and enable those skills. If they have talent and invest time in understanding the capabilities of the tools, then they will create designs that will blow your mind. The software should never be accused of creating the common denominator. Yes, it will enable someone who isn't very talented to put a kitchen together, but it cannot design a kitchen."
