Vanessa Feltz commissions Glartique to design Kitchen and Bathroom splashbacks

* Vanessa-splashback.jpgVanessa Feltz commissioned Glartique to design and create a 7m bespoke printed glass splashback for her kitchen and printed bath panels for her master bathroom.

"We took one of our readymade range the 'London skyline' and personalised it with pink flowers, and several extra favourite buildings of Vanessa's like Selfridges, her own house and the Royal Albert hall," reveals Ashley Phillips, creative director of Glartique. "The design was printed on both sides of the kitchen and back painted in her favourite colour fuchsia pink.

"It makes for a bold and unique statement - particularly with the matching pink 19mm thick toughened glass worktop.

"For her bath her brief was just the words 'splish splash'... A pretty tough brief by all accounts but we decided to have some fun and let the creative juices flow.

"The result was a fun play on Roy Lichtenstein's woman in the bath - the pop art image. The lady had her hair changed to blonde, (obviously) with pink tiles (obviously), and much bigger pop art dots than the original. We added in speech bubbles of the rock and roll song by Jerry Lee Lewis, 'Splish splash I was takin' a bath' and wrapped the whole design around the end panel too. The result is a stunning colourful statement - especially as it sits in a gorgeous glossy white luxurious bathroom with matching pink glass sink."

When asked how she felt about both installations Vanessa said: 'Everyone should have one, they're amazing,' and that we had surpassed all her expectations.

"Vanessa seems to have taken this creative inspiration into her dancing on 'Strictly', and is winning the audiences over with her bountiful personality, we wish her the best of luck."

The Splish Plash bath panel has now become one of the readymade range on Glartique's website. The company has just installed the second one in a lovely cottage in the Cornish town of Padstow.

Glartique was founded by designer and artist, Ashley Phillips, who spent the first 10 years of his creative career as a mural artist. In 2010, he began experimenting with new surfaces and printing techniques and Glartique was born.

Glartique, based in North London, creates beautiful designs and prints them onto toughened glass and other surfaces for kitchen splashbacks, bath panels or as beautiful artworks for the home or office. You choose the design, the surface and the background colour and the company will template, print and install it. The company offers a range of design options, from ready-made through to a totally bespoke service.
