It’s comforting to know that I’m in good company… Shortly after finishing last week’s leader in which I slammed those that are knocking the European Ecolabel initiative - soon to be expanded to include toilet flushing systems, I received a press release from the Bathroom Manufacturers Association headed up: ‘Doing nothing is not an option’. In it, BMA CEO Yvonne Orgill challenges: “Whether you’re a cynic or a supporter, whether you like it or not, labelling for water-using products is here to stay. And that’s a fact so you’d better get used to it.” The statement, which features below in full, argues the case for becoming involved in a voluntary labelling scheme in an attempt to sideline the possibility of having a mandatory system foisted upon us by the EU – and you know what that can mean in terms of red tape, costs, inefficiency and dismay amongst consumers.
