Fleet managers are being urged to make additional licence checks for temporary hires and staff delivery drivers covering the Christmas & New Year sales period to ensure that drivers are qualified to be on the road; with repeat checks undertaken, so any endorsements collected during the festive period are revealed early. Licence Check warns that drivers are under huge pressure to make deliveries on time and many are working long hours, without appropriate breaks, to meet challenging schedules. It worries that employers are turning a blind eye to the fact that drivers are being overworked, without breaks, and that they may be tempted to push drivers out in vehicles without the usual safety checks, putting lives and property at risk. Advice worth taking, I think, particularly with the KBB industry under such pressure at this time of year… On that note, may I wish you well for the holidays? This is the last issue of KBzine until 6th January and if you're also having a break, I hope it's a good one and that 2017 is happy, healthy and peaceful for us all. Yours,
