Last chance to book KBSA 'Staying Ahead' Conference The 2019 KBSA Conference, AGM and Awards Dinner is selling out fast so members are being encouraged to book now in order to secure a place. "We have had a lot of interest in booking and this year it could be a sell out," says KBSA chair Richard Hibbert. "Building on the success of last year we have introduced a new format for the afternoon and a host of top-class speakers around a theme of 'Staying Ahead', to make the 2019 conference one to remember. KBSA Designer Awards - standard extremely high say judges This year's shortlist of finalists for the KBSA Designer Awards has been reviewed by the judging panel that met in London to determine the 2019 winners. Head judge Ainhoa Bilbao of Bulthaup praised all of the shortlist for their imaginative, creative and innovative designs.
She said: "The standard of entries was extremely high this year, making the judging very close." Simon Acres joins the Furniture Makers Company Simon Acres, principal director at KBB specialist Acres Consultancy, has joined the charitable organisation, the Furniture Makers' Company (FMC). Simon was admitted to the Company last month and during a young professional industry experience lunch and presentation. VitrA announces UK premiere of Claudio Bellini collaboration at designjunction 2019 Leading bathroom brand VitrA has chosen to premiere Equal, its latest designer collaboration, in the UK for the first time at designjunction 2019. Now in its ninth year, designjunction has proven itself to be the most anticipated exhibition of the London Design Festival, attracting over 27,000 visitors across five days in 2018.
This year VitrA will be showing Equal and Origin as well as unveiling the latest additions to Plural by Terri Pecora. International Safety Awards 2020 are launched; new categories added For the 2020 edition of the International Safety Awards, the British Safety Council has launched new categories of Awards to celebrate the achievements of individuals and organisations that campaign to transform health, safety and wellbeing. The Awards - an internationally recognised accolade for safety excellence and reaching their 62nd year in 2020, recognise and reward organisations that have demonstrated a true commitment to achieving high standards of health and safety during the 2019 calendar year. Last year, over 500 organisations from a wide range of industries, countries and continents won an International Safety Award. Rangemaster introduces new granite sinks Rangemaster has expanded its Igneous Granite range of sinks with the introduction of new Mayon, Mica and Paragon models, alongside a new Dove Grey finish. Mayon features a minimalist smooth drainer with a geometrically shaped bowl. It is available in three variants: single bowl, double bowl or an ultra-compact single bowl version, which has a width of just 690mm, making it perfect for compact kitchens. Airuno launches powerful new wall hood A new contemporary wall hood has been launched by designer cooker hoods brand Airuno, expanding its extensive collection of eyecatching kitchen appliances. The Boheme Wall Hood is an 80cm angled extractor that combines an elegant, curved aesthetic with exceptional practicality, delivering impressive extraction at a maximum rate of 770 m3/h and making it one of Airuno's most powerful extractors to date. Uponor endorses IDS Malmo Rigid luxury vinyl tile for use with its underfloor heating system IDS's luxury vinyl tile flooring, Malmo Rigid is the first flooring in its category to be endorsed by underfloor heating firm Uponor for use over its Minitec water-piped underfloor heating (UFH) system. Malmo Rigid has been added to Uponor's list of recommended floor coverings, widening its potential for use in both domestic and commercial settings. Uponor's backing gives further credibility following independent performance tests by Exova BM Trada of its tiles and plank formats over its own water-piped UFH system, which showed no significant movement or change in visual effects. Commercial stainless steel wc now in a white finish British manufacturer, Pland Stainless, has introduced a new white powder coated version of its popular Atlanta2 back-to-wall WC pan. This new model offers the same hygiene and strength properties as stainless steel but in a clean white finish. The Atlanta2 model stands 400mm high by 360mm wide with a 580mm projection from the wall. It comes in 304 grade stainless steel but is available in 316 on request. It has been designed to be suitable to use with all leading WC frames. It's a rear inlet pan with the option of P or S trap and it comes with a white heaty duty seat and cover, ideal for high traffic commercial applications. Grohe appoints Simon Andersen as new general manager for the UK Grohe has announced the appointment of Simon Andersen as its new UK general manager. BC Designs launches new brochure with a host of new products British bath maker, BC Designs, has launched its new brochure for 2019 featuring a raft of new products including Colourkast; a collection of eight colourways which will be available across all the manufacturer's Cian baths and basins. The 104-page brochure is the biggest to date and highlights the growing demand for high-end bathroom products. Bushboard backs British forces veterans Renowned worktop and bathroom panel manufacturer Bushboard, has recruited ex-military personnel for several key roles within the company. "We used an agency that specialises in ex-military job seekers," explains Lindy Tegg. "We find that ex forces people are committed, hardworking, self-motivated and happy to take a high level of responsibility - all qualities as important to us at Bushboard as they are to HM Forces."
