An industry such as ours relies on freight transport more than many others - and with so many of our appliances, kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and components coming from overseas, I've been wondering whether companies are worried, because of the way Brexit negotiations are going and some of the threats that are reported to have been made about lorries being deliberately delayed at the ports. Perhaps there's no need to worry though, since, according to today's Logistics Update published by the Freight Transport Association in partnership with Santander, 'resilience dominates business thinking and planning where trade and the movement of goods are concerned.' The study polled the opinions of more than 370 freight and logistics businesses operating in the UK and internationally, to provide industry insight into the latest political and economic developments. And three quarters of them are confident that their businesses will grow over the next three years. So if they're not worried, perhaps we shouldn't be either? Companies trade with other companies. They want their businesses to thrive and I'm sure that whatever deal (or no deal) we end up with, we'll all be working together - whatever side of the channel we're on - to ensure that we can all continue to thrive. Anything else would be stupid, wouldn't it? Yours,
